An indispensable element of the traditional agriculture, the usefullness of the threshing floors lies in the establishment of clean and firm land, sometimes cobbled-as in our case- where the grain is threshed, in other words, the cereal whose seeds are used to make bread. Capileira has various threshing floors, but the Aldeire (in the images) at the town’s exit by the path towards the river, are the most well known. Today the threshing floors have been converted into car parks and make up a great lookout point from which one can gaze at the ravine.
